Located in the heart of Scottsdale, just steps from ALINE’s office, Pinyon is a restaurant shaped by place, travel, and long-term vision. The project evolved through close collaboration with the client and design team, with the goal of creating a dining experience that feels timeless, welcoming, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Inspired by the client’s Mediterranean travels, the architecture blends classic influences with a modern building context. Materials such as stone, marble, and brass introduce warmth and texture, while the overall composition remains clean and intentional. A strong connection to the adjacent park informed the architectural approach, prioritizing daylight, openness, and a seamless indoor–outdoor experience.

The project involved reimagining an existing 1970s structure and expanding its potential through new volume and spatial opportunity. Structural interventions allowed the kitchen to become the heart of the restaurant, while a two-level layout introduced rare moments of vertical openness, including a second-floor indoor–outdoor bar that fully opens to the exterior through collapsing window walls.

Throughout the process, the focus remained on designing a beautiful yet flexible restaurant shell that could adapt over time. By emphasizing the quality of the spatial experience and key architectural moves, the design supports both the immediate needs of the restaurant and its long-term evolution.
