Taking the footprint of what was previously a seafood restaurant, NORI Sushi was stripped back to its structure while keeping the sushi bar and kitchen elements in place. At nearly 10,000 square feet, the layout warranted the need to provide separation of spaces to create a more intimate dining experience. By introducing elements of transparency (such as efficiently slated wood dividers), the interior was transformed into a less intrusive space, all while being sensitive to the client’s budget. With the divisions of space between front dining, back dining, bar, as well as the front and back patios, diners can return several times and experience something different each time. This layer of spaces has transformed what was once a vastly inefficient use of square footage into one that can be experienced over and over again in new ways.
