Magdalena is a restaurant shaped by cultural identity and architectural intent. Inspired by the prominence of the name Magdalena in Latin culture, the design integrates a bold, feminine presence through materiality and color.
The entry sequence establishes this expression through a terracotta breeze block wall framed in extruded wood, forming a clear architectural threshold rooted in Latin American material traditions. Inside, the dining space is organized around fire and a central chef’s counter, with curated displays of fresh ingredients reinforcing daily preparation as a cultural ritual.
Floral influence is expressed through form rather than ornament, appearing in sculpted trim, lighting, and wall applications. Operable window systems blur the boundary between interior and exterior, allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to function as one.
