Located in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, Chula Seafood at Arizona Center is the newest location for one of Arizona's most beloved seafood brands. ALINE Architecture Concepts partnered with Chula Seafood, House of Form, Ardebili Engineering, and MCI Builders to transform an existing retail space into a vibrant restaurant that embraces the energy of its urban surroundings.
The design was inspired by the building's expansive glass storefront and the idea of a modern, abstract "fishbowl," using clean architectural lines, layered materials, and thoughtful detailing to create a space that feels bright, welcoming, and distinctly contemporary. Rather than taking a literal approach, the design subtly references the movement and reflection of water while allowing the restaurant's food, atmosphere, and downtown location to take center stage.
Positioned among a growing residential community, nearby hotels, and the Arizona Center Farmers Market, the restaurant was designed to become an active gathering place that reflects the character of Downtown Phoenix while giving this Chula location its own unique identity. From the custom rippled metal soffit above the bar to the carefully integrated architectural systems within the existing multi story building, every detail was thoughtfully considered to create a seamless guest experience.
Completed in June 2026, Chula Seafood at Arizona Center represents another successful collaboration between ALINE and the Chula team, bringing together architecture, interiors, engineering, and construction to create a destination that is both functional and memorable.
